At Roberts UCC, we believe faith is something we live, question, explore, and grow into together, at every age. That's why we've created RUCCUS: Roberts UCC Understanding Scripture.
RUCCUS is our all-ages Christian Education program designed to bring the whole church family together. Whether you're 3 or 93, whether you've been part of church your whole life or you're just curious about faith, there's a place for you here.
We don't believe you ever outgrow learning about God. And we don't think learning has to be boring!
What is RUCCUS?
RUCCUS brings together Scripture, conversation, activities, questions, creativity, and fun.
Each gathering starts with the whole group together for Scripture, music, and our evening's Big Idea. Then we break into smaller groups to explore the topic more deeply in ways that are appropriate for different ages and stages of faith. Along the way, we make connections between what we read in Scripture and what happens in the real world. Sometimes that means asking tough questions. Sometimes it means bringing in someone from our community to share what they do and how they see their work as part of God's world.
There aren't “right” ages for learning about faith. There are just different ways of learning.
A Typical RUCCUS Evening
5:30 PM Come hungry!
We gather around the table for a potluck meal. Bring something to share and your own drinks, plate and utensils.
6:00 PM Gather & Worship
We come together for Scripture, songs, and the evening's Big Idea.
6:30 PM Explore & Discover
We break into age-appropriate groups to dig deeper into Scripture, ask questions, try activities, and connect the Big Idea to our lives.
Around 7:00 PM Come Together Again
We gather as one church family to share, reflect, and close the evening together.
Who Is RUCCUS For?
Everyone. Seriously.
RUCCUS is designed for children, teens, parents, grandparents, adults, and everyone in between. You don't have to have children at home to be part of the RUCCUS.
You might come to learn.
You might come to ask questions.
You might come to help.
You might come because someone invited you.
Or you might just come for the food and stay for the RUCCUS!
